ABOUT THE SISTERS

After several summers of sitting on the deck of our “cabin” on the lake, knitting and speculating about owning a small business, we (sisters Debby and Lynda Gemmell) decided to put the two together and opened the Cabin Fever studio in September 1997. We opened our first, very tiny, shop, sharing the space in a friend's photography studio.

Although we are now housed in a small warehouse space, we have a little "show room" stuffed to the ceiling! We have our guild meetings there and Deb teaches classes, usually twice a week. Our "open to the public" hours are:

Monday to Friday from 11 - 3
but it's still best to call first!

We offer a range of natural fibres and offer our own original patterns, books and kit designs as well as other Canadian designers.

CABIN FEVER DESIGNS

Our aim, when designing and writing our patterns, is to provide you with an understanding of the concept or approach rather than having you blindly following instructions line by line. We also try to do our patterns primarily in the round (cutting down on the sewing-up) as this is our preferred method of knitting.
We have rated the experience levels required for our patterns as follows:

plain sailing: beginner knitter/very straightforward

with gusto: enthusiastic beginner

adventurous: a little different, more advanced, you need to be a little brave

dare to be different: now you're talking! This is for individuals who like to try their own designs and are willing to go for it!
